Looking for some assistance. I am coming down from KY to the Ft. Myers area for a three day weekend trip and I'd love to do some bank fishing. I would like to fish with live bait and catch either brackish water or saltwater fish. I am not particular about species. I just want to catch stuff I've never caught before. It would be a bonus if near a sandy area my wife could lay out. I saw on Google maps that there was an area where the Caloosahatchee River flows by the Sanibel Island Causeway, wasn't sure if that was a good area or not? Thank you so much guys. PS. Any rigging and bait tips would be greatly appreciated. I am buying a rod/reel combo when I get there.
Thanks again.
We fished there a couple months ago. My advice is to go to the north end of Ft Myers, rent a kayak, and fish live shrimp on a jighead. Flip along the mangroves in the shallow waters. Only kayakers and electric motors allowed where you rent kayaks at the park. We had manatees come by us too.
