Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum and would like some advice on wade fishing the Cumberland River. As I have never been there before but I have a few vacation days coming up and would like to make a 2 day trip. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated as to where some access points may be?
what part of the Cumberland river are you wanting help with.Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum and would like some advice on wade fishing the Cumberland River. As I have never been there before but I have a few vacation days coming up and would like to make a 2 day trip. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated as to where some access points may be?
From the Kendal campground below the dam if you go down ray man road it dead ends in the river in about a mile. There is also a Cumberland River report in the reports section of this site. Jerry at the concession stand down there might be able to help you out too.
Welcome to the site.
PS
Helms Landing is also an access point. You might want to check out the generation schedule if you wand low water for wading.
Thanks alot guys! I am really looking forward to this trip. Any tips on tackle?
If you are after trout I would use light to ultra lite. Power Bait in yellow or rainbow is working good right now, along with redworms and nightcrawlers. Small spoons and inline spinners also produce. Try going over the steps in the back corner of the campground if they are not generating and wade out on the sandbar at the end of the trout stream.
Thank you sir! I will be taking both light and medium light st. croix rods with my president reels. I was thinking Joe flies and rooster tails but also will try the power bait and maybe my new Berkley Gulp Hellgramites. You guys have been awesome with the help so keep it coming. If you are after trout I would use light to ultra lite.
