Any one know what the bite is like on Rough right now? Are they stuck on the wood or coming off? Heading down this weekend would like to know what I'm getting myself into because it'll be the first crappie trip of the year. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks guy's, - Joe.
turned out to be a decent day. We caught right around 60 all around wood with a wide variety of approaches. Downside was that we pulled only 15 keepers. The upside was that the weather turned out great and we didnt goose egg.
way to go! your a better crappie fisherman then me.
We started out fishing a small stretch through southfork just targeting any wood, standing or laydown, that we could find or physically see....caught a few there. Then headed up through northfork doing the same thing, caught most of them through the creeks but they were really scattered. We didn't catch more than 2 on any given piece of cover so it was a lot of moving throughout the day. Everyone we talked to seemed to be doing the same thing. Had to weed through the dinks to manage a keeper here and there. There was no one way or bait that seemed dominant. I was catching mine on minnow\slip bobber, tube jig, drop shotting minnows, swimming grubs....seemed like they all worked just had to get it in their view.

Caught well over 120 yesterday from north fork to calimese. everywhere from 6" to 8' had to be on wood. Out of those 120 only ten where keepers. Be fun to take the kids!

Went tues. Same results as everyone else is having. Fished Tules Creek. Caught a ton but only managed 12 keepers. On the plus side, did have a couple 11 1/2"-12" fish with have been scarce the last few years.
