    Installing a swing-away hinge

Does anyone know of a place that installs swing-away hinges on boat trailers in Lexington or surrounding areas . My new trailer is a foot or so longer than my garage. Any help would be appreciated.

Is there any way you could angle the boat in the garage to get that extra foot?

Unfortunately not. I vaguely remember a discussion here a few years back that mentioned a place in northern Kentucky doing this kind of work. I did several searches here but could not find it. I know I have the option of buying a hinge from Fulton and installing it myself but I thought it would be better to get it done professionally.

I had that problem once and modified the garage door to fit. I cut a notch for the tounge to stick out of the door

Would something like this work for you? If you're handy in the garage you could do it yourself or any good mechanic should be able to install it for you. http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Coup...DPB330301.html

Looks cool, and if you did not trust the bolts alone you could run a bead around the out side to be sure.

Here's one that is designed to be welded on. http://www.etrailer.com/p-FHDPW330300.html

I have the bolt on model, installed by me, and experienced zero problems. You will burn up a bit or three making all those holes.

Thanks Sweetwater! Yes, this is the same Fulton break away hinge I mentioned above. My main concern was to do it myself or have it done professionally. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Thanks Colbyt, I may end up doing it myself.
