    Kodiak Boat Buddy

Has anyone tried one of these? It looks great for trailering the boat by yourself. Cabela's carries it and I looked at the customer reviews and they were generally positive but some questioned the durability.

Bought mine from BPS 11 years ago and still using it. I can pull up on the trailer and it locks on, but I still attach the winch strap before pulling out. The weight of the boat pulling against the "bolt", as you pull out, over time will bend it. If I have someone in the truck and the ramp is crowded it is nice to pull on the trailer and go. I have had a few compliments over the years.

Have you had to replace the bolt? And have you protected the hull of the boat? Some of the reviews mentioned the plastic on the boat buddy scratching the hull above the eye. I appreciate the info!

The "bolt" cant be replaced, its part of the locking mechanism. As far as scuffs or scratches, may have a scuff but no other damage.
