    F#$@ Obamacare

Well a new year and my first round of my "new" insurance and really good "high" deductible plan that was forced down my company's throat, send my first 3 month supply of insulin, test strips , needle tips, and to my surprise its over $3,000 out of my pocket, oh yea, company gets fined by the gov't if they offer an elite plan, yea affordable my a@#. A nice way to start the new year, broke to live.

Bill does your plan force you to get 3 months at a time? Also are you close to the age to receive Medicare coverage? Just trying to get a feel for your situation. High deductible plans are rough on the wallet at the beginning of the year.

I don't know one person who doesn't think this insane healthcare bill wasn't just terrible and is costing them more money. Here it is in a nutshell, those that can will pay more for those that can't or won't its the liberal socialist way and that is what Barry's tenure stands for.

this healthcare is always been a mess and still is, politicians have made a lot of noise about needing to do something about it for 40 years or more. but thats all they do is make noise, Obama hasn't fixed it either, but he did take hold of it and shook it up a bit. I do try and see both the good and bad with what Obama has done, I hate the fact that we are forced to buy health insurance, healthy young people don't need it, but have to buy it, to help lower the cost for older sick people. before Obama shook it up, the health insurance co. would just throw a sick person to the dogs, when they tried to buy coverage and had an existing condition. now they can't be denied coverage. and the preventive care for mammograms, colonoscopies, immunizations, pre-natal care. Obamacare is far from being perfect, but whats the alternative, what plan does anyone have that is better, washington politicians spit out lots of talk of how bad Obamacare is, but don't show a better alternative plan. I know what your dealing with, my wife is a diabetic and the testing strips alone are expensive, you may know this already but this may help someone else, that is a diabetic and fixing to buy a health insurance plan. Things you should knowWriting on Everyday Health, Dr. Ben Hartman lists ten things ACA requires health insurance to cover in diabetes. He suggests that you ask insurers if they cover these things:
    • Endocrinologists visits for people with Type 2
    • Four endocrinologist visits a year for people with Type 1
    • Medical devices (including pumps and continuous glucose monitors if you use them)
    • Diabetes self-management education
    • Annual eye exams
    • Mental health services
    • Dental services
    • Podiatrist services
    • More than one A1C test a year

Cathy Carver, Vice President for Advocacy and Planning at Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, advises people with diabetes to shop carefully for their insurance. The number of choices can be confusing. Interviewed on the site Type 2 Nation, Carver said,
Focus on three things when it comes to choosing a plan: a plan that doesn’t have high-deductible health insurance, a plan that covers diagnostic tests beyond the preventive screening tests…, and a plan that allows for educational services.
If you’re on insulin, I would ask about device and monitoring equipment coverage as well.

I'm not a fan of Ocare as I have made no secret of but it hasn't effected me directly, I use the va for my healthcare but my son has no insurance because of the cost after healthcare law as his doubled, the reason I don't like it is the increase cost to those who earn their living, doesn't seem right to penalize working people so those who choose not to work can get it for 0 cost... I know this sounds like a right wing haters opinion but penalizing working people is wrong in my opinion.. We have had medicare/medicade for years which I think provides for those who cant provide for themselves... If you are healthy and choose not to earn your living, well, you have a right to do that and we as a country don't let you starve and I think that is enough...

I worked 50 plus hours a week to pay for my kids Collage Education at UK, she was debt free at time of her graduation, I don't have any more kids going to school, but most everything has school taxes attached to it. as much school taxes as are collected, every kid should be able to go to collage without costing extra. I like the idea he has, it won't help me, but it could help lots of kids that have parents, that would rather save their money and let their kids borrow and graduate with huge debt. it would be tax money well spent from my point of view.

Sounds more like 90% of the people I know!! I don't hate nor am I a right winger. I like to separate myself from both parties and choose to side with more "we need choices" party.....neither party is perfect and in many cases you can't tell the difference between the two.......Nice post.
