    Crappie tricks

ok i got these crappie secrets online let me know if you have ever used them and if they work

Take a mason jar and attach a 5 foot rope to it and punch holes in the lid, then put 6-12 minnows on it and drop it over the side of the boat. Then fish ur bait next to the jar. It said it creates a frenzy when the crappie see the unprotected school of minnows that they cannot eat.....? Sounds like it may work , anyone used this method or have thoughts

it might work in really clear water but the glass interferes with the crappie's lateral lines to feel the minnows, so if they can't see them they can't find them

It's also been said that using a "mason" jar will distort the view of the minnows, and a clear/smooth glass jar should be used (and a larger one than the mason jar).

Does it work .... ??? Don't know, never tried it. But, unless the Crappie are somewhere close to the 5ft depth to start with, you're not going to draw them close to the jar. And if they are already that shallow, you should be catching them on the minnows on your hook, anyway !!! IMHO

Y'all should fish with 10 other guys on a pontoon boat.

As soon as one feller gets a bit, there's 9 bobbers right where he was fishing. We create our own school of minnows.
