    Rough River Lake

Fishing a tournament soon and need some info. Haven't been down in a while but I hear the lake is up a little. Anyone know what the lake looks like as far as color? Are the fishing moving up yet? Can you please point out some known spawning areas?

    Some help would be great.

Guessing at the conditions per all of the other reports around the state.

    - Water is improving every day. With clarity being Stained. Big fish have not moved up as water temperatures are hovering around 53-56 may get some buck bass latter in the day moving up. Fish pre-spawn patterns.

Spawning areas- Look for coves and lead in banks.

Dad and uncle went down there Wednesday. They put in at Indian Valley and fished up in the river. Dad said they caught over 10 small ones then he caught about a 5lber on a black and blue jig. Judging by the pic the water was muddy looking up in the river. Hearing we have a possible 4 inches of rain coming over the next few days so it'll probably be a mess again

On Rough Wed, heavy stain on main body maybe 1' clarity so I fished mid lake near peter cave, water was stained but clearer with close to 2' clarity. Should be fairly clear on the river above peter cave but with the rain forecast of 2 to 4 inches it depends on if your tourny is this weekend it cold muddy back up. Water temps in the mid 50s and reaching 60 in shallows in afternoon, so the temp is right for a good bite but the water has been dropping .5 to 1 foot per day so it seems to make them unhappy, they don't want to get trapped shallow so fish in or near deep water. Long way until spawn so hit main and secondary points and deeper creek channel banks. I caught 7 on jerk bait and suspending crank over ledge of steep creek channel bank, saw a lot nosed into break line but cold not get any to take a soft plastic or jig. The good news is it can only get better, barring more mud.

A buzzbait would not be my top choice. I think that you are still a few weeks out for that.

Fished monday morning until noon. Caught 7 bass total with best being around four pounds. Fished northfork area. Water had good color around the bridge area but got quickly stained as you started upriver. Fish were caught on small plastic worms and swimbaits hope this helps.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of worm (ribbon tail, straight tail) and color?
