I have some of both.
In my opinion, if you have an older Chronarch that has been taken care of and maintained, it is just as good as the new stuff.
My 200 series Chronarchs and 50 series Chronarchs (white) are like butter, great casters, and time tested.
I like my new Curados too, but wouldn't really put them on a pedestal any higher than the older Chronarchs. You can find them in the $150-160 range brand new, so that's not bad.
I've started buying some "Concept A" reels from a new company called 13-Fishing that I really like, but too new to comment on how they'll hold up over time.
