Barkley Lake is on FIRE.............FIRE I tell ya.

I got back yesterday after 3 solid days of fishing.

We caught nearly 50 fish a day with multiple bags of keepers. LOTS and LOTS of fish. Finally got on a good lipless bite, but caught fish on nearly everything but a crankbait .

Fish on Tubes, Jigs, shakey head, etc, etc.

    Cannot wait to get back.

AND I should tell ya. If you want to REALLY figure out how to fish a bazillion acres of water, like the twin lakes (kentucky and Barkley), you should make the investment into Dave Stewards Familiarization classes.

They are AWESOME. I used techniques he teaches to literally destroy the fish. It is cool learning something that is relevant when fishing.

    Later,

    Geo

That is fantastic! I'm not even a bass fisherman but I can appreciate that effort. Do you fish Northern Barkley the most?

If it stays fairly stable, I suspect any of those shallow bays that are reasonably protected will hold fish. We caught fish on soft plastic creature baits. Green...and shades of GREEN.

We got on a good lipless bite on Sunday, but that was the only time we really had a good lipless bite.

Don't be afraid to fish shallow.........

I hope this helps..be careful...some of those shallow bays are REALLY shallow And you can tear up stuff quick.....If you're not sure, idle into them.

I'll be north Barkley in 2 1/2 weeks. These pics drive me crazy! Lol. I too took Daves class and you hit the nail on the head with your statement. Fishing north Barkley every spring the last 15 years don't hurt either.
