How is the bite going. Have over a 2 hour drive to get there, and want to know if they are on. Thanks

Go.
I'm thinking it may be coming to an end soon. My buddy fished this weekend and said some stripers had spawned out and some still had not spawned. Once they spawn, I assume they will spread out and go deep.
Well I just learned something, I did not know the stripers in Cumberland had a spawn.
Fished Fri.night by myself and caught 4 keepers all over 10 lbs. with biggest being around 15lbs. Also had some nice Smallies and even a largemouth over 5 lbs. Sat. night fished with some buddies caught several keepers with biggest 18 lbs. brought home our limit with smallest being 10 lbs. Also caught some big Smallies. All fish caught on top-water and fish didn't come up until 2-3 am.
Inland stripes will still spawn even though their eggs have very little chance of hatching, or at least when compared to the success rate of spawning saltwater stripes. However, there has supposedly been evidence of landlocked striper successfully reproducing in freshwater alone; evolution anyone?
stripers go through the same spawning process in freshwater impoundments as they do in saltwater. however in order for the eggs to survive and hatch they need to be in an environment that has constant current sufficient to keep the eggs gently tumbling and flowing for at around 72 hours. this environment also has to have optimal O2 levels, appropriate Ph, and consistent temperatures.
I just ran into some guys at the boat ramp that it been out all night. They said the activity picked up at two or three and shut off at four.
How has the striped bite been the past couple of days?
Friday night caught 25 stripers...6 walleyes. Saturday night caught 4 stripers and 1 walleye. Think boat traffic may have put them down. Bite didn't start till 2 am and was over around 5am. Top water bite both nights.
We gave it a try Sunday night. It was white capping so boat control and staying close to the bank was difficult. Very dark too. Didn't. Arch any. 1:00-4:00
