I have lived on Barren River lake for 15 years and never saw or heard of redear in this place - until yesterday. My son brought home a stringer of bluegill with one big shellcracker on it. Anybody else catching them here? Did the state stock some in the recent past? I was just wondering...

there is red ear in all of our lakes there just hard to catch because of there diet and most of the lakes are so up and down that when they spawn its in deep water I'm talking 8 to 14 feet deep if they spawn at all .. There more like bass or should I say small mouth then blue gills when it comes to eating and they will not hit a dead red worm and they do not like those Canada red worms at all . I usually hook my red worms through the middle and leave the head ad tail to wiggle they will hit that . They mostly eat small crayfish small muscles they also like those small white grubs from the yard .
