help identifying fish in Floyd's Fork at the Parklands

Hi guys! Can anyone identify these? I just went through the fw.ky.gov fish identification guide (quickly, I admit), but didn't see these in there.

I'm sorry the pic isn't better, but you can click and see it slightly bigger.

Floyd's Fork in the Parklands where the water was deeper was full of these. Some were about 8" or so, but the big ones were probably 2'+.

They seemed to just be floating near the surface, usually in groups. I cast near and at them, and they had no interest in my lures, and didn't even seem to be bothered by the lures.

I'm thinking some sort of carp... Maybe gar?

Thanks! -- Danielle, who is still acclimating to KY fishing and species

Those fish appear to have a forked tail. A gar does not have a forked tail. A carp's tail is somewhat forked but they are much broader in the shoulders then these fish appear to be. My guess would be muskie or grass carp as wormin said.

You got to love these what is it . :>)
Looking at the tail the top looks longer then the bottom and the gray head of the middle fish makes me think it's a
    sturgeon

Looks like a grass carp. If you zoom in you can barely make out scales.

    Yeah -- grass carp!

I just found a pic posted online by a guy who sells them for ponds: http://www.thepondconnection.com/ima...0_P1020008.JPG

I also found this, which makes me think there's an obesity issue with their species: http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...h/IMG_0331.jpg

    Thanks, all!

    Common Carp in Floyd's Fork

I know this thread is old, but I don't think the fish in the original post have been properly identified yet. I am 99% sure they are Common Carp, which is a distinct species from both Grass Carp and Asian Carp (invasive species).

Here is a pic of a 16lb Common Carp I caught in the Floyd's Fork. Looks quite a bit like the pics in the original post. Tight Lines!
