If I were going out, that's what I would throw, but that doesn't mean much. According to Dave Stewart's reports, the A-Rig bite is pretty good at KY Lake right now.

I've got a couple of A-Rigs that have never touched the water. Is this a good time of year to try them out? I've got a week off between Christmas and New Years, and I thought if the weather was decent, I would get the boat out and go fishing.
Should I give those A-Rigs a try?

Yes this is a good time of year for the A-rig.
Absolutely! Fish it deep in clear water and hang on. BTW: When fishing the A-rig deep, I like to use weighted hooks instead of the exposed jig hooks. I snag a lot less but still seem to get a good hook set. If you go, send us a report. I too am hoping to get out between Christmas and New Years if the weather half way decent.

I also use belly weighted swimbait hooks in the outer baits. I'll use an open hook on the middle bait though. If I had to guess, the belly weighted hooks have probably cost me a fish or two when they just slap at the rig instead of eating one bait, but they have probably saved me tons of money by not getting hung up when I slow roll them on the bottom or pull them through the tops of brush piles.Absolutely!
