They were pulling the lake hard. Splash box was rolling. I would say you might could fish half mile below the dam, but probably not worth the trip.

I've never been there before, but I'd like to go down there this Sunday and try for walleye/sauger. Does anyone know how the water conditions are and how the fish are biting? I'll be fishing off the bank also. I'll probably head to Wolf Creek Dam if this doesn't work out.

About 5-6 days ago they were releasing water pretty hard. After the rain we had early in the week they drastically slowed down the release. Typically they slow down the release during a big rain event so the tail-water/river does not get flooded. As soon as the run-off water for the area downstream of the dam has calmed down I "guess/speculate" they will start releasing water a little more than what they were doing on Thursday because the lake was at 671.63 and rising. Target level for this time of year is 668.
With an outflow of 826 a person can fish downstream of the dam but not in the spillway box...I would keep an eye on the discharge rate. They "should" crank it up very soon to get it back down to 668.

FYI...if your back up plan is Lake Cumberland they have been releasing it at around 26-27000 cfs 24 hours per day all week. You may need a plan C

Bummer. Was really looking forwarding to the nice weather this weekend 🙁 I'll keep an eye out to see if that flow improves any, but guess I'll have to start looking for other options.
What is an ideal outflow for GRR? I'm having a hard time reading the chart. Really appreciate the help!About 5-6 days ago they were releasing water pretty hard. Even if the gates are opened to where there is a high outflow you can still catch fish up the old river channel on the opposite bank from the ramp. Live minnows fished under a float works very well for crappie this time of the year.
