    Cumberland River Near Glasgow

Hello-I'm entertaining applying for a pastor position in Glasgow. I was curious about the area. Would it be considered a rural wooded area and Is it known for hunting and fishing? We'd be relocating from Casper, Wy and we're looking for a place in or very near good deer-turkey hunting and most of all good fishing. (primarily trout-fly fishing) We've seen all the great pics of fish from the Cumberland river-but is Glasgow anywhere near that kind of fishing? And how about the fishing on the C-River right there in Glasgow? Thanks so much for your help.

The area surrounding Glasgow is, what I would consider, rural and wooded with agricultural mix. Average deer hunting and great turkey hunting. You are looking about 60 miles to the Wolf Creek Dam from Glasgow. You would take the Cumberland parkway to Russell Springs and then take 127 towards the dam. Trout fishing starts there and is good all the way down into Tennessee from there.

There are also some really nice lakes within a reasonable driving distance from that area. Good luck with your decision!

from glasgow it is roughly 40 miles via hwy 90 to burkesville, which is right on a fantastic stretch of the cumberland river. you also have a couple other options for small trout stream fly fishing very close to glasgow.
also in glasgow there is barren river lake which can be a completely unbeleivable bass fishery at times, its also a catfish factory and has a great hybrid striper fishery.
as far as the hunting goes you are in the middle of great deer and turkey habitat.
green river lake is 30 minutes, cumberland lake is 45 minutes, glasgow is a great place to land if youre looking for outdoor opportunities
