    Kentucky river at Frankfort catfishing

Just got home from right below the lock here in Frankfort. Was fishing for catfish because the river looked great! Looks can be deceiving though, not a single bite! New to the area and that was the first time fishing the river. Anyone care to share a few pointers on how to fish that part of the river or any decent spots around Frankfort? Like I said I am new to the area and would love to be able to find a great place to catfish or better yet, be able to get some info from some guys that have fished down here, any help is greatly appreciated!!

If catching big fish isn't mandatory, and you're OK with catch and release for bass, the public access spots on Elkhorn Creek are an option.

Lots of catfish in Elkhorn as well. Probably too many.

Catfish are on the nest right now I would give it a few weeks. They should be off then. Unless you want to go to a farm pond I may be wrong but I don't believe they nest in ponds unless they have logs, rocks or some type of hole to go back in.

If you were fishing right below the lock that is a great spot. Use cut shad there and cast as close to the dam in the current. We've been catching a bunch down there.

Thanks man! Week were down a little bit from the lock but was throwing straight out. We used cut bluegill and stayed out from about 8 to 11:30 and didn't have a single bite. Maybe next time we'll move right up next to the lock and throw out past it and try that. Had 4 rods out with no bite but that area just looks way to good not to give it another try
