I need help as well. I just moved here. I went to Madhal Dam this weeken and figured out I was on the wrong side for strippers. Which is the Ohio side. I need to get close to the locks on the bank where they release the water. Help!!

Hi I'm working in Ohio on a drilling rig and thought I might as well hit the water and catch some fish but I've heard that there are stripers in the Ohio river. What is the best set up to catch these fish here? I'll be fishing by the dam in new martinsville. Just not sure what kind of bait to use this time of year. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

You are on the right track. Fish below the dams for your best shot at hybrids. Stripers don't do as well in the Ohio River. Most guys below Meldahl fish on the KY side. It has changed since I fished there, but now they provide a fishing pier there. I would just watch others and see how they fish. They used to used long surf rods and toss heavy jigging spoons and jigs out to the first gate. Bait is harder to fish with because you can't get the distance needed.
