Hello -
Is there Muskie in the Ohio River..?????
Around Louisville I don't think that would be something to go fish for. I have heard of a pike now and then.
The green river has some Muskie.
I have heard of and actually caught one Muskie myself from the Ohio. November of 2009 while Sauger fishing. White grub right at the bank as i was lifting the jig out of the water. I thought i was famous so i called it in and surprisingly to me the guy i spoke with said it was not uncommon and probably came out of the Licking River via Cave Run. I caught is less than 5 miles from where the Licking enters the Ohio
I used to fish the river from Cannelton to Markland fairly often for bass, sauger, and stripes and caught many an interesting fish but never a muskie. That said I am sure there are a few strays from some of the streams and rivers that feed in. I don't imagine the Ohio makes great habitat for them. If I remember correctly, years ago there was a story of someone catching a very large one in the mouth of otter creek on a trot line...
