Elkhorn Creek fishing slowing down, any tips or new location

Been fishing the elkhorn a TON this summer as the creek has been on fire. I was hitting them good with in-line spinners and tubes. Ever since the water level drop and heated up the creek has been sllllooooowww. Not getting many smallies, mostly just gar chasing my in-line spinner. Peaks mill has been my go to spot lately.

Any tips to get the fish to start biting again?

Should I switch to a different body of water? Located in Lexington, and willing to drive an 1.5hr to go fishing.

This prolonged drought has them in shut-down mode for everyone I have talked to. Water temp 90 degrees and hardly any flow, oxygen levels have to be getting low. This is as bad as I can remember going back a good ways.

I'm not fishing Elkhorn again until it gets somewhat back to normal. Any fish you catch is likely to die from the stress even if you release it.
