    Gizzards in the Cumberland River

Where is the best place near the dam to net some big gizzards. I haven't had much luck catching skippies lately.

You can use a cast net or dip and catch shad to your heart's content below Barkley. Not as desirable as skip jacks but I froze a bunch of shad that I dipped back in the summer for bait.

Crocus or Marriebone are only 2 creeks you're allowed to net in. Bringing any from hot water sources doesn't work well.

It is also against regs to transport shad from one body of water to another as of about two years ago.

Reason is juvenile Asian carp look very similar to shad and they are very bad news.

    Thanks for the info.

"Marrowbone" is below Burkesville down river near Trace's on the Cumberland.

Both are equal distance from burkesville ramp. About 8 miles either way if my memory is right. Try and get em close to mouth. You don't have to go back far in either before water is 30 degrees warmer which makes them tough to use.
