    Cumberland first tourney as boater

Getting out of my comfort zone tomorrow with my 12 year who has asked for months to fish a tourney. Going out of Conley Bottom. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. So much easier in the back of the boat.

If I had a 12-year old in tow, I'd downsize to make sure I had something to weigh in.

    Water temp

Wow I bet there are 60 boats at conley bottom. Guess you can tell UK plays Alabama. Water temp 76 degrees. 5 degree drop from Sunday. Little breeze. Come on top water for my 12 year old.

We had to eat at Krystal if that says anything. Managed one fish non keeper. I had 4 other bites all top water but missed every fish. Fished in Several creek arms but zilch. 15 pounds won that Saturday but big drop off in fish weighed after top 3. Just learning how to try and form a pattern ...got an F for that. Really wanted to see little man with his first keeper. We will try again soon.

As you saw from the weights, tough time to pattern fish. Transition time.

I think it's great you are taking him out. The experience is well worth it in the long run IMO. I too have an aspiring young angler I fish tourneys with at Cumberland and other places. We started last fall fishing a couple opens (he was 12 at the time too). This summer he asked if he could give up travel baseball so he could fish more tournaments - he's got the bug bad and we've yet to place in any event we fished so far.

We are planning to fish the Thanksgiving event out of Conley again this year - was over 160 boats last year. We had a great time and didn't land a keeper - the beauty is he can't wait to improve our standing.

    Tourney

Mine loves it. We sat out in the rain and I kept asking him if he was done he said I thought it was supposed to rain..lol we typically fish Conley because the tourney size not to big. Typically 20 -30 boats
