I Am At Peace
From the turning autumn forest
In layered color
Turn silver wings to the evening sun
Over harvested fields of gold
Upon the sunset’s glistening reflection
In colors of orange and crimson
Appears a loon
Between the waves
On a dry gravel shore
A doe comes to drink in the fading light
As my silver line gently falls upon the water
I am at peace

There are many reasons why one may fish. For me it is the enjoyment of what awaits during a day of fishing. It may be swells of flowers and vines on the shore. It may the water birds feeding on the surface or the beaver, the otter, the fox, the turkey, a deer. It may be solitude found during the sunset on a glass windless lake. If I am lucky enough to catch a fish or two, that's just a rich bonus.
