    Nice Barkley Lake bass...

This fella caught 8 or 9 of these this week. This fish was 5lbs or so, he's caught a couple 6lbers this week too. They bake them and eat them.

I was wrong on the weight, it was bigger than 5lb. Probably closer to 6lb, I was surprised they eat them. I would've turned it loose.

    Better fish to eat

There are definitely better eating fish than a big largemouth but to each his own! Some have to be eaten to keep the populations in check. I've heard that catch and release has negatively affected the fishing in some areas and they want you to keep some fish. All about maintaining a balance.

I agree , some lakes need some Bass to be harvested . I used to fish a 22 ACRE lake in La Grange and it had a 15 in limit ... but all the bass were like 14 inches , I have caught probably over 500 fish from there and NEVER got one over 15 inches ... so they were stunted at 14 inches

This is pretty common in small lakes, which is why I think slot limits work better in those instances.
