Hellgramite populations have plummeted in both Salt River and Elkhorn Creek. Consider yourself lucky if you seine more than a couple.

If someone can find one in Elkhorn, I'd like to see it. I haven't for almost 20 years.

I gave up seining about 2000. I'm surprised you can find even 1 or 2.

You've given me a goal jcb. A picture of the mythical Elkhorn Creek " gold devil" will be on this site at some point this year.

    know's the time

If your wanting to know if there are any devils. go to the creek in the early spring, when the water is low turn over rocks next to riffles on the bank. There on the bank at this time of the year. for more info look up Dobson fly. As far as Elkhorn find another creek our feather friends in Frankfort took care of that many years ago.

There are devils in central KY, just change creeks. send me a PM and I'll help you out
