I have been doing decent in Taylorsville chasing crappie. The minnows work good and so do black chartreuse grubs on roadrunner heads. FISH SLOW! 3-10 ft from the bank about 4' deep. But...I see lots of cars parked at the side of the road where folks are walking down to fish the salt river. I am assuming white bass. Is it safe to take a bass boat that far up the river? Should you go even farther up to river to catch them. Any tips are appreciated.
Depends on the size of your boat really. I wouldnt take a big bass boat up there for sure.
Once you put in at van buren and head up river its pretty shallow through that first stretch coming around the bend. Smaller boats can go up pretty far. Most just go up above the bridge to where theres kinda like a island split where a creek runs
Just take it slow once you get past the bridge because it gets shallow and theres lots of stumps you cant see. Keep an eye on your depthfinder.
Good fishing up there when the whites are on but to a certain point its better to drive down palmer road and walk through the fields
