    Church camping/fishing trip ideas

I am helping to plan a fishing/camping trip for the dads and sons in our church, but I am not sure where to take them. We need a lake that has a campground, pontoon rental and decent fishing for fish species that can be caught off of pontoons. We went to Laurel Lake last year and not many guys caught anything. I don't know if any lakes exist that meet the criteria and will give up a couple fish for these inexperienced fishermen, but I am hoping someone can offer some suggestions????

I don't think they care what kind of fish they are after, but bass fishing is probably not gonna work due to the fact there will be 8 people on a pontoon flinging treble hooks in every direction...could be dangerous. I am just thankful that me and my boys will be in my bass boat away from the mayhem LOL.

My suggestion would be Holmes Bend Marina at Green River Lake. There's a campground on the road into Holmes Bend Marina, just a short ways from the marina/launch ramp. The Marina rents pontoons. They also have a beach area, right next to the launch ramp. Launch ramp is owned/operated by the COE ... and there's a $5 fee to launch.

campground is not affiliated with Holmes Bend Marina.

Agreed, Holmes bend is good. Barren has great bluegill at the bank at Baileys point. Wolf creek trout stream is really nice. Especially since they redid it.

    couple of options

I don't know where you are but Kincaid Lake in Falmouth has camping right next to lake. We stayed up at night catfishing and caught plenty of little fish. They also offer pontoon rentals.

In Renfro Valley, Lake Linville might be a good choice.

In Shelbyville, I like Guist Creek Lake. They have camping and boat rentals.

    Good luck.
