New to Erlanger and need some spots for kids bank fishing

Hey everyone, I am new to the area(Erlanger/Florence NKY) and kids love fishing like I do. Really need some spots to take the kids bank fishing both near(for quick spur of moment trips) and afar(within an hour).

Any suggestions would be great, and landmarks as not familiar with the area yet.

    Thanks!

I was going to suggest those two lakes, but wasn't sure if they were public access lakes.

Not being familiar with the area, best thing I can tell you to do is pull up Google Maps and type in Erlanger KY ... then zoom out gradually until you see the blue areas denoting water .... then zoom in on them to find out their names & locations.

How far you're willing to travel is another factor you need to take into consideration !! And doing a search for each one, to find out if they are public waters and if they have much in the way of open bank access would be a good idea.

Boltz Lake, Williamstown Lake, & Corinth Lake are South of you ... just off I-75 (about halfway from Erlanger & Lexington) ... but, again I don't know if these lakes have bank access, as the land around them has housing developments. And there's Bullock Pen Lake, that's West of Crittenden, KY ( on I-75 and closer than the other three I mentioned). But, again ... there's housing around it, too.

Prisoners lake and Middleton Mills Park lakes are stocked with catfish and trout as part of Kentucky Dept of Fish and Wildlife FIN's program. Those would be good places to take the kids.

You might also consider a trip to the Salato Wildlife Center :

in Frankfort. Might be a "roadtrip" but they have lakes to fish, and if the fish aren't cooperating you can always take the kids to the wildlife center and check out all it has to offer. Lakes are free to fish in, but the center charges for entry (prices listed on the website I posted)

I will add Big Bone state park and the creeks at the boat ramp area. Also some have said Camp Ernst lake in Boone county.
