What bait will save the day?

I've had days where I could get bit on anything and we always come to this question... If your life depended on you catching a keeper bass after fishing all day with no luck and you could only pick one bait, what would you choose?

My answer is a #5 shadrap in crawdad, but I've also noticed that I fish it less and less these days. I'm not sure why because I have loaded the boat on really tough days and caught nearly everything that swims on that bait.

    So what would you choose?

Probably an odd pick for not saying a finesse presentation but a classic chrome and blue or chrome and black 1/2 oz rattle trap. I would cover as much water as possible with it.
