We were down for the weekend and I couldn't help notice
that the bait shop is for sale. I hope it doesn't close down.

Rick, didnt he die a few years ago.?
Yes
I hate to hear this, too. Those guys could tell you what's happening and be spot on.
There is another shop, just out of town, on Highway 90. Haven't been there in a while, but it looks like it is open when we go by... gun and tackle place.
Is only hunting gear. They got rid of all the fishing stuff years ago.
That said they may be able to give a fishing report regardless.
You know, we're the demise of all these local fishing shops........
I'm not complaining, because I'm part of the problem, but when you buy most of your stuff from Cabelas, Bass Pro, Walmart, the internet...........there is no room for Strange, Punisher, BP, and all the other local stuff down around the lakes.
Every trip to Celina and Dale, I made sure I spent 50-150 bucks at the One Stop. Sure it wasn't much, but it was enough to make sure I tried to contribute economically there.
I'm sad that all of those stores are probably done.......
I'm hearing rumors that Punisher is all up for sale........but I've not heard anything official about that.

Every time I go to Barkley I usually try and buy something at Hilltop Kash Market in Cadiz for the same reason. They sell ethanol free gas and have good bait so I would hate to see that go. And with the new road re-routed around them when heading to the bridge it will have to be tougher for them unless people make it a point to shop there when iin the area. Plus I generally try and support local independent retailers when I can regardless of the purchase. You know, we're the demise of all these local fishing shops........
