Hi Folks,
I'll be staying in Lexington 3-10 December on business and was wondering whether there were any fishing opportunities nearby for this time of year. Just want to get out for a day and cast a lure or fly - not fussy!
Any thoughts would be very welcome.
Many thanks,
Christian

Elkorn Creek comes to mind, but to be honest, I'd almost look into booking a Guide for Dale Hollow or Cumberland River for a day.Hi Folks,

Seriously.........
Dale for Smallies........Cumberland River for MONSTER Stripers or rainbows and brown trout.

Or if he wants to take a little drive to wolf creek dam and fish the ditch for some trout. Might be a little too far to fit that in on this trip. Just thought I’d mention it

As long as it isn't frozen over, you may want to head East on Richmond Rd and cast flies at Jacobson Park Lake. It's a FINs lake that's stocked with Rainbow Trout. You will, of course, need a fishing license & Trout stamp ... but, the Trout Stamp is only necessary if you intend to keep any Trout you catch.
It's a long shot, I admit, but it won't require an hours drive or more to get to any of the closer lakes in the area, many of which have little (if any) bank access to productive water.
Thanks to Geofisher, Captobvious and Crappiepappy for their suggestions. I'll look at the various logistics to get to these destinations.
Thanks again,
Christian

That ditch I was referring to is called Hatchery creek. That’s easy access or you can go further down the creek for more challenges. You can find more information on it by checking out Ky Dept of Fish and Wildlife. Lots of luck.
