    Cumberland River 1/6/18

i'll be out there hopefully. Anyone else catching fish. This is my favorite time of the year to catch the SLOBS. My buddy caught a skipjack on a fly last time. Hopefully some Tennessee Tarpon are around and the stripes are close as well!

We fished Saturday 1/6 and it was 1 degree when we put on the river. We didn’t see a soul all day. Didn’t catch any skippies to put on the planer boards, but did alright on the trout. Caught 25 or so, no size though.

Fished below the dam Sunday. Shared the water with one other boat. Lot of flow early and cut it down a bit around 11 to better fishable conditions. Had a heck of a day catching all trout species, including a bucket list 10 plus pound brown trout for myself. Also managed to scratch out a couple nice walleye and a striper. Heck of a day. Caught most of them casting but picked up a couple rainbows trolling cranks.

    Brown

Was she full of eggs? Or spawned out?

Full of eggs!! She dropped about 15-20 in the boat before I got her back in the water. Hoping that was a drop in the bucket to what she will drop later since we released her live and well.

Its great that you got such a good picture and an accurate weight of her. Did you get good length and girth measurements? That will be a fantastic replica mount

Was afraid of keeping her out any longer than I had already had her trying to get the weight so I put her back. I would have hated to unintentionally harm a fish like that so girth and length went by the wayside. I would guess her at 28 inches long but couldn't even begin to guess the girth.

    awesome spots

One of To Do's for this year is to learn how to paint replicas.
She has some awesome markings. Glad you let her go. I
thought they may have already spawned but I guess its on
    now.
