    Its Mid September

    Its Mid September

    The brilliance of the ironweed
    Has surrendered to the goldenrod
    Branches of the weeping cherry
Sway in the breeze almost bare
Fields day by day change colors
    In early autumn display
    Along fence lines and pastures
    Purple aster intensely glow
    The butterfly weed fewer visitors
The nest in the eve empty
    Its mid September

    nice!

that reminds me, i plowed up an old weed field with goldenrod and planted wildflowers.
    they're still blooming and beautiful.
i'm apprehensive about doing this because i'm a firm believer in protecting native species regardless of how they look.
i mainly did this for the birds and bees but now i wonder if i should have.
and my okra is still blooming like crazy. best okra crop i ever had and the blooms are beautiful.
i never had okra taste like this before. it gets sweet after it's cooked.
