Sunlight
The sunlight came through my window this morning. As I looked out across my fields, the sunrise was strikingly beautiful. There were cows and horses eating grass. Farmers were plowing the fields for new seasonal crops. Fruit trees were in full bloom. All in my view are made possible by sunlight from the sun. Too much sunlight we burn. Too little sunlight we freeze. No magnetic shields from the earth’s core, we die. Sunlight allows plants to thrive, thus we eat and thrive. All complicated social systems we depend upon daily are made possible by the sustaining energy of the sun, both from past “carbon stores” and daily supply. Our dependence is not just nutritional; it also includes our national defense and socio-economic structures to function as people and as a nation. Everything that has occurred in the past, present and future has and will depended upon the quality and quantity of sunlight.
