I don't do a lot of summer time fishing for them but do catch them in the fall and spring with down lines just easing along with the TM.

Anybody have luck with downrods with live shad for Stripers at Cumberland? I’m looking to target specific banks and points but curious if this will spook fish as you drift over them.

Yes. Down rods definitely. My rule of thumb is if I'm putting bait 20' or deeper then down rods are an option. Even caught them with 16' down rods. Lately about half the fish I have caught came on a 25' down rod and that's using 6-8 planer boards (various depths) and only 2 down rods. Probably has a lot to do with the depth although there were also two planer boards at about that same depth. If you are targeting fish near the bottom that's about all you can do at Cumberland because the slope of the bottom is so great.
Yes, this will work. Use you're electronics to mark the fish and depth they are holding at to set the lines. Also side planers work well with you're spread.
Thanks. I will give it a try.
