Problems caused by Global Warming continue!

    Remember Katrina?

Well, this may be far worse than Katrina. With the Mississippi at flood stage and a tidal swell of 3 ft higher than normal, the city may again be flooded. But this time the flooding may be far worse. The levees around New Orleans may be breached and the city flooded again. Even after we spend 13 billion dollars on the levee system after Katrina. People in the area better get to higher ground before it's too late.

All this excessive rain the last few years is a result of global warming.

Even Lindsey Gramham Senator from South Carolina is talking about the science behind Global Warming.

As Lindsey says... Now what do we do about it.. that is what we should focus on.

    New Orleans sinking

When the Corp of engineers build all the dams along the Mississippi River and the Ohio River, sediment that used to flow down the rivers to the gulf of Mexico is held back behind the dams. With the ocean levels rising and the land around New Orleans subsiding and the lack of replacement soil being held back by all those dams on the rivers, New Orleans is sitting below sea level. So the Big Easy is more susceptible to flooding now. Add all this rain (12" in 24 hrs) for several days and it was obvious that the levees were going to be overtopped. Last night I saw on the news that the flood waters were going over the top of the levee flooding one of the parishes around the Big Easy. I've not watched the TV news today.. yet. But yesterday they predicted much more rain for Sunday (Today).

The good thing is that many people heeded the warnings and left NO and went to higher ground before the water went over the levees this time. So the death rates for people will be lower than Katrina. Maybe the people of NO leaned a lesson from Katrina. This time they got out of town before the flooding. Now it's basically property damage. Although the livestock in the area of the flooding could be lost if they were not taken to higher ground.
