    Cumberland River Drowning

A 77 year old Russell County man died yesterday after his boat capsized below Wolf Creek Dam.
Nearby fishermen tried to save him but were unable to rescue him.
He was recovered and pronounced dead yesterday afternoon.
The article can be found on 92.7 WHVE
Deepest sympathy and condolences to his family.
I personally know this man and can tell you hes been on the water all his life as he is a former fishing guide, he knew his way around a boat to say the least.
Another reminder about the extreme caution needed to fish this tailwater.
    Be safe folks

Yes you need to have your A game down there, especially if the sluice gates are open. Prayers for the family

Yes he was wearing a lifejacket. he was close to the sluice gates when his boat flipped and it pulled him into the hydrolics and kept him under. there was nothing anyone could do

I’ve fished down there many, many times. That sluice gate is very unpredictable , water changes direction , pull constantly . Your big motor better start on the first crank every time, it takes a large t- motor to pull you away from it until a certain point, never get that close to find out if mine will. Sorry to hear this but be very careful around it.

I was thinking that someone could still drown while wearing a life jacket at a lot of these dams. Sad to hear.
