I just use clear 17 pound. 5 feet long. Any longer than that with a 7 foot rod it is hard to net of fish single-handedly.

Was ordering striper fishing gear getting ready for season and got me thinking about the leader. Was reading about disappearing pink color fluorocarbon leader. Anyone use this? Sounds intriguing and cost isn’t any different than the clear normally use. Also curious what leader lengths others like with live bait. Cabin blues can’t wait till April

I agree with Peter and usually keep my leader 5-6' so I can place the hook on the reel itself or on the hook keeper on the rod in between fishing spots. I run 20lb mono main with a 15 fluoro leader. When you do snag, the leader breaks first and you get to keep the weight and swivel. Not familiar with the pink fluoro.
