I had planned on going fishing today but for some reason snow in April just did not give me the movotation I need to go. After sitting around the house all day I decided to to drive buy my local boat ramp. I am only about 4 miles from Holmes Bend and I was curious as to what it looked like after the 1.9" of rain we got Sunday. The lake is on a rise but decent color on the main lake. I also drove over the 551 bridge and its rolling mud which is pretty much what I expected to see.

At the Holmes Bend ramp I noticed something interesting. At the ramp there is signs on each side of the ramp that has been there for years. I don't even recall what the sign says but what caught my attention was a 8X10 piece of paper that is laminated and stapled to the wooden post on both signs. KDFW has placed a notice saying effective 4/8/20 and until further notice there is no tournaments allowed on public water. They also have one posted on the box where you pay your launch fee. All of this was under water just a few days ago so the sign was put up within the last day or two. I knew the information about no tournaments in KY but I was surprised to see a sign at my local boat ramp. Seldom does Holmes Bend have tournaments go out of that ramp on a weekend but they do have an occasional tournament go out of there. I know there is a period when they have a weekly Tuesday night deal for a couple months but other than that they are very few tournaments that go out of that particular ramp. The majority go out of Site#1, Lone Valley or the State Marina ramp...I was just wondering if anyone has been to those particular ramps and seen any signs or for that matter any other lake in KY.

Am I just missing something when we are advised to just stay home, and only essential travels is recommended?
Am I the stupid one by doing so and missing out on going to the lakes or doing getting supplies at the store for projects around the house?
I’m dying to go to the lake but there is no way in hell that with a clear conscious I will, even though all I would need was gas for my boat and truck. The way I see it it’s a couple of stops at gas stations, what happens if I breakdown, there’s possible interactions there. There are so many possibilities that why would I possibly put others at risk. It seems so selfish to me.I’ve been wanting to get to the lake and take stripernut on his offer to show me how to throw a cast net. Maybe later in the year.
I’m might be in a different position than some, I have been working setting up new injection tooling for masks for medical PPE which my company is donating, when not doing that I’m off until May 4th and will be paid the entire time. Many are not as fortunate as I am and are off work, why would I risk adding to any additional cases which might prolong others being allowed to get back to work.
Like I started this rant with with I just don’t get it.
I started out just like you. I really felt like if the virus can’t spread it can’t survive. I also was subjected to some very horrific looking graphs daily. I even partook in watching every update on state and national level.

Then I started noticing how those graphs started being ridiculously wrong and continued to be used. I learned how a ridiculously repetitive phrase (#team ky) was used as a campaign slogan.

While those things bothered and really concerned me I stayed the course. I’m a huge proponent of personal responsibility after all, and I certainly didn’t want this virus or spread this virus. Then a YouTube video popped up on my feed, it was Perspectives on Pandemic with Wittkowski. I highly suggest you to watch and pay attention very closely. It states full name and credentials in beginning so you can do a background check if needed. It is eye opening, really is!! I was somewhat hesitant still though.

I begin ranting on out of staters and them being at our boat ramps, kinda playing the follow the leader/group think. Then a member here posted about his situation (sorry I don’t recall name). He pretty much lives and works in Ohio to provide a better living for his family. His heart may reside in Ky though. I’m positive he spends plenty of dollars here! Dollars that are dearly important to Ky or pretty much welfare state, it’s not called commonwealth for nothing. I was wrong for feeling that way, it looks like Ky is going to need a boat load of more out of staters dollars if we keep on this socialist path. Sooner or later we are gonna run out of other people’s money, food lines are real. I’m not talking about taking a number at Walmart, I’m talking about miles of cars 4-6 wide needing food. It is happening in this country already.

Luckily, I got called back to work. Invested way too much time into cheap phrases or looking at horribly wrong graphs. I work construction, counted vehicles from eight different states at job site this morning, and frankly it’s the same as it’s been my entire career. It requires heavy lifting and REAL teamwork, close quarters mandatory. Everyone there is worried, about china virus and a far more deadly condition, depression so great that it is unrecoverable. I just hope all this safe at home crap isn’t just prolonging it, although it likely is. Watch the YouTube video for more on that.

I know, tldr so let me end this rant. Herd immunity is a thing as much as vaccines are. We don’t have a flu vaccine, we don’t have a common cold vaccine,we don’t have hiv vaccine, we don’t have cancer vaccine. The United States of America just defunded WHO tonight and rightly so, it’s a shame we cant do the same with china. The American consumer can though! Think about that before you buy your next rod, reel, or lure.
