Is the Ramp at chowning lane at tayloraville lake very steep? Thanks in advance for any information
I would not consider it steep.
Yeah, I doubt it's any steeper than any of the other ramps on the lake. Pretty sure they were all made at a consistent angle and placed in accordance with normal pool water levels.
I've used that ramp only once in all the years I've fished the lake. Even now I pass it up to launch at Settlers. I remember hearing about some vehicle break-ins at Chowning years ago, too.
There were even trailers stolen off trucks at that ramp. Guys got back in and had no trailer.
I made the switch from Van Buren to Chowning ramp about 5 yrs ago. I would say from apr to sept I prob use it as much or more than anyone. Many times one of the last to leave. I have never had any issues with my vehicle or trailer or seen any one else's messed with. (knock on wood) I feel better about it than Van buren. There is always a chance that something could happen at almost any ramp area.
I not 100% sure about where all the confirmed break ins were last week. But feel fairly certain that some were at the horse riding area and the state park ramp. might have been at other TV ramp too. some of the info seems contradicting.
