    Striper Fishing Lake Cumberland 2/27

Headed down to try out the new boat this weekend.

    Where are fish at?

How is bait? Catching any on lights close to the surface?

I have not been down there since early January but I would think the fish are still up in the creeks. Maybe the upper third not sure on that maybe someone else can chime in. You may be able to catch threadfins and gizzards up at the very backs of the creeks.

There has been a lot of snowmelt and rain so some creeks could be trashed up pretty good and likely more so at the head. If that's the case sometimes it gets down to fish where you can. Which may be mid creek or if the wind is blowing good and blowing the trash over to the side you might be luck.

I'm not sure about catching alewives under lights this time of year as I have not done that much but if are going to try I might go halfway up the creek put the light out in about 60 feet of water. That's a guess. Your graph can tell you where to put the light out.

    Good luck

I just read your post again. This Might be a good weekend to spend time getting to know your new boat and your new graph if it came with the new graph.

Marked a lot of fish in the mouth of Beaver and Other, also in Beaver itself. Couldn't get any to commit.

    water temp and condition?

Thinking about going for some smallmouth later this week, wondering what the water temp is? Looks like the water is rising was it stained in Otter?Beaver area?
    Any information would be appreciated.

I live about 25 or so miles from the dam and we got just over 5" of rain Sunday 2/28 at my house. That is enough rain to blow out the color in the creeks on Cumberland. The air temperature was in the upper 50's and low 60's the majority of the time it was raining so I would suspect a water temperature rise along with the elevation rise.
