Autumn2022 is arriving in East Central Florida with east breezes, migratingmullet schools along the beach and into the Intracoastal Waterway,mornings are feeling a little cooler as summer comes to an end,schooling inshore gamefish are returning from up north after spendingthe summer in cooler waters up the coast, Jack Crevalle, Bluefish,Ladyfish, Pompano to name a few. The ICW water level has been risingwith the east winds after low water levels most of the summer, theinflux of ocean water filtering into the system will also begin theclearing process, with clearer water during our cooler time of year.The northern Mosquito Lagoon backcountry is known for it’s varietyof different saltwater fish species, is a nursery estuary, lots offish living their first couple years growing up with some speciesgoing to the ocean as they mature into adults. Local resident Guy andbrother were out with me recently catching a good mixed bag ofspecies including Mangrove Snapper, Bluefish, a couple Snook, JackCrevalle, Ladyfish and a good size Black Drum giving a fun battle onlight tackle …………….

Somebetter size Jack Crevalle as well as schooling smaller sized ones area normal fish widespread throughout the Intracoastal Waterway regionin the fall of the year, they chase baitfish and shrimp right up tothe surface putting on a good show with sight casting opportunitiesas they show themselves attacking with white water splashes,Stephanie from Maryland and her son caught a bunch of them, hereshowing off a good one ……………
