CC, bluebird skies, and no bass

Went to cc about two weeks ago. I was expecting to find fish active in the prespawn but ended up skunked. My uncle did get a bite from a big fish that wallowed on the surface and made a big commotion. He fought it for 7-8 seconds after that, but she came unbuttoned.

Neither of us saw a bite the rest of the day. Obviously we tried to repeat that big bite by patterning based on that experience. We tried other stuff too but couldn’t buy a bite.

We’re heading back tomorrow, and are hoping to find them this time. However, except for maybe a few clouds forecast that afternoon, it looks like clear skies. It will be hotter though and hopefully the bass will be more cooperative. I definitely don’t want a repeat of the last time we were there.

If anybody is willing to share any info on fishing cc this time of year, and under bluebird skies, I would be grateful.
