I am planning my first striper trip to Cherokee Lake. I would like any info on live bait? Shad, herring, trout, or shiners are they available and if so where? Also where would be a good place to start?
Im not too crazy about fishing on Cherokee, but i do know the TSBA is having an open fishing day on saturday and they are putting in at oak grove at 1 pm, I assume Ezell Cox knows there are some fish in that area, so i'd try rocky hollow and that area they call the T. I would use gizzard shad on planars, its abundant in the shallow waters and its what the stripers are feeding on at this time. Im big on artificials, so if i saw the fish breaking, id throw pencil poppers, zara spooks or some 1 oz BDavis jigs if you have any.
