RE: Steamplants - Kingston or Bull Run

Ive been fishing Bull Run alot lately since its close, but its been really slow. There are way too many bass fisherman running up in there with their big motors and it really shuts things down for big stripers. I dont know if people dont care for striper fisherman or they just dont know what they are doing, but its frustrating when guys motor up to your planars or balloons. If you're after stripers you've got a much better chance at kingston since boats cant get to the good spots.

Caught bait, but no bites. Had a pontoon boat yesterday nearly run over my line when they came flying into the cove. To much wake in such a small area. Then they decided to run the pontoons onto the rocks and fish from the bank. Clueless.

Ive had luck at kingston at night, but not yet for Bull Run, we went to Bull Run last night until 1 a.m. and all we caught were runny noses. I think the high pressure had them shut off last night. if you're ever in there and see a gray 16 foot alumacraft with 40 horse johnson, hollar at me. I might have some decent info.

RE: Steamplants - Kingston or Bull Run

I bet in the last few cold nights they have been up in there. My only chance to go will be xmas day, which may be the key to low pressure, but the warm front moving in will likely change things don't ya think?

My boat is currently dry due to engine, so look for me in waders until spring.

RE: Steamplants - Kingston or Bull Run

Warm fronts in December and January have really turned on the fish for me, i remember my best day at kingston it was 70 degrees and windy in January right before a huge cold front. I landed 26 stripers from the dishcharge wall in about 3 hours. I really enjoy bank fishing these places if you can get good quality baits from the bank. Bull Run has been slow still this year. Most of the fish we are catching are not up in the steamplant but im sure its just timing things right and being there when they make a run up in there. Have a merry Christmas and good fishing to you all.
