    tilt/trim on the fritz

took the boat out last week and while doing some tilting and trimming, the motor just come to a hault. checked all the fuses on the water, all good so i figured it to be the relays. i ordered new one from merc, cut the power supply and installed the new ones with no luck. on the water i did notice a short in a wire where it had been rubbing but i taped it immediately. does anyone have any idea what this might be? thanks for all help, shaner

    RE: tilt/trim on the fritz

I had a '95 Stratos with a '95 Evenrude 150. while fishing once I had a similar problem. Somehow a stick that was floating in the lake had gotten stuck between my motor and the boat, and somehow that triggered some type of safety switch. Once I removed the stick, it worked perfectly.

Don't know if that is your problem or not, but worth a look. Also, do you have more than one switch on the boat? For instance, my boat has a total of 4 places to trim or tilt. Could one of the switches be burned out?

I'm no mechanic, but I can sure tear things up.

    Good luck,

    Danny

Suggest you take it in to a outBoard . Mech. May be cheaper in the long run before you make it worst. Yank
