    hey crappiepappy

It seems the crappie are on now. I got three fat slabs two 15" and a 16" off one sunken brush pile this evening right before dark. They were at the mouth of a small cove within 30 feet of the Riley Creek channel. The brush pile was in 14 feet of water and they were right in it, not suspended over the top. I wish I could go again tomorrow night but I have a business meeting that will keep me away until 11:00. I would think tomorrow evening and Wednesday morning will be good fishing. I don't know what that cold front will do but I have a good guess. The high here is supposed to be 56 Friday and get down to 35 Friday night. Good luck. BTW I was using a a 1/16" oz. chartreuse jig head with a #2 green body grub with an orange tail. I just throw it out, let it settle to the bottom and crank it in as s-l-o-w as possible. My favorite color. They also like what I call a "shrimp" color because it's the same color as cold-boiled shrimp - kind of a cross between pink and orange.

Thanks Charlie1 .... green/char has been good for me, at WB, too !! Albino Shad Panfish Assassins have been pretty good under docks, and in submerged timber, over the last couple of years.
Yeah, I don't know what this cold front will do, either. And I'm guessing you are guessing the same thing .... shut them down
x( But, maybe it will start the "shad kill", and they'll bunch up and follow 'em around ... munching down on the easy meal. I'm taking my cast net equipment, just in case. ;-)
I'll try and score some of those "shrimp" colored jigs ... are they plastic bodies, or pre-tied jigs ?? Would you happen to know the "brand name" ?? I might have to snag me a handfull, if not for this trip, then maybe for a return trip.
    Appreciate the info ....... cp

Get some Kalin's color #808 as small as you can get, which is their 2" I think. I'm not sure about the other "shrimp" color. I'm pretty sure I got them at Outdoor Sports at Merchant's Road/ I-75. I don't know the brand or the color name for sure, but I know it when I see it. I'll follow up on it and let you know. I know I've seen it elsewhere too and grabbed some.
