A buddy of mine bought a Ford F150, with a tow package, for a little over $10,000.00......Brand new...... An unbelievable great deal on a good truck...
Interesting question with a wide variety of responses. I pull a 16 foot Bumblebee with 115 Mariner on it. I first pulled it with a 1997 Chevy Astro 4.3L V-6 automative with a transmission cooler. After one transmission rebuild (45000 miles) and one transmission replacement (63000 miles) I gave that one a new home. I bought a 2002 Dodge Durango 2WD with the 4.7L V-8 with the transmission cooler. Dodge recommends you not pull in overdrive so 13 to 15 pulling the boat is what you should plan on. When considering milage think how much gas you can buy for the cost of transmission repairs. I have not the first complaint or problem with the Durango. Pulls well, handles well, very comfortable to drive. There is no reason for you to spin the tires coming up a ramp with the Durango. The vehicle currrently has about 48000 on it and runs better than the day I got it.
I hope you make the decision that works well for you.
