Hello Partner..
I have done quite well and actually won some bass tournaments cranking riprap banks and bridge pilings. I won a club CLASSIC along the riprap bank by the bridge that separates the "fast side" and the "idle area."
I have also done well cranking and worming any laydowns and stumps. If you crank stumps, it is best to actually make contact with that obstacle. Be ready to use a lure retriever because you WILL get stuck...
As far as lures, I prefer to use medium or deep diver in crawdad patterns and I make presentations right against the rocks and I use the crank..crank..pause retrieve and the bass HIT IT HARD.
I usually replace ALL the treble hooks on my crankbaits. I have had the best success with the Excalibre rotating treble hooks (available at Walmarts and tackle centers.) These hooks are VERY SHARP and they HOLD FISH. I have lost LESS fish using these hooks.
If you use plastic worms, I use the TOUCHDOWN WORM model # TD624 in Black/Grape or Purple/Red Firetail. I attach a crimp on weight right against the nose of the worm and I actually "side arm" skip the worm under tree limbs and into places other anglers cannot make presentations. Let the worm sink slowly and then.. lower the rod tip and slowly reel the worm back in... HANG ON!!
GOOD FISHING PARTNER..
