The lake is down 3.5 feet, I don't think the shore fishing will be very good, probably a lot of mud before you could get to the water... Better bring some knee high boots......

Heading down to Monroe in the next week or two to do some camping and fishing, might take the canoe depending on the weather outlook. Just wanted to know how the shoreline fishing is around Hardin Ridge and also some of the other campgrounds there. Will be fishing mostly for largemouth. Thanks.

My suggestion would be to try at the dam. You can walk out quite a ways into the water--normally--and at that time of the year you are likely to tangle with wipers.
Sounds like Monroe would be a waste of time at the moment. Anyone have any other suggestions for a camping/fishing trip, will be from shore unless I decide to pack up the canoe as well.
A great shore fishing and campling lake is Summit. Westwood is also good. Lots of shore. Clean campgrounds. Westwood has a lot of hills and trees, but Summit is mostly open.
You might want to try your hand at Brookville. Nice campground, plenty of shoreline and some nice creeks nearby too! This time of year finds the Stripers, Walleye and Smallies all active. Last year around this time there was a 7lb Walleye caught off the Causeway.
If you go keep a sharp eye out for the crazy bass fisherman killing stripers all over the lake! LOL!
Sorry, couldn't resist!
LOL .........Good one Fishhead.............................
Ditto
as you know all us BASS fisherman are a bunch of drunk drugged up wild and crazy guys if it is not a bass it is dead meat :}
So, did you go to Monroe to shoreline fish, and if so, how was it?
